Former President Pratibha Patil conferred Lifetime Achievement Award by Lokmat

The country's first Maharashtrian President and the first woman President Pratibha Patil was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Lokmat Maharashtrian of the Year Award Ceremony. Pratibha Patil was the President of the country during the period from 2007 to 2012.
The Lokmat media group conferred its prestigious and much awaited Maharashtrian of the Year Awards on celebrities who have brought glory to Maharashtra by outstanding service in their respective fields. The crème de la crème from the worlds of  politics, films, industry etc. were present at the glittering ceremony held at Sahara Star Hotel.  The awards ceremony; sponsored by UPL, powered by Karrm infrastructure and collaborated by Ajinkya D Y Patil University, was a spectacular and memorable event.
 The fourth edition of the awards featured a plethora of categories including public/social service, performing arts, art, sports, theatre, movies, industry, infrastructure services, politics and administration besides the new category of medical service. In addition to the 14 awards, six eminent personalities were presented with special awards. These awards were given to those who have made valuable and lasting contributions to society. 
Pratibha Devi Singh Patil (Shekhavat) was born on December 19, 1934 in Jalgaon district of Khandesh. She was elected from the Jalgaon Assembly Constituency in 1962. She worked as a minister for 20 years holding various portfolios. She was the cabinet minister for health, tourism, parliamentary affairs, housing, social and cultural welfare, public health, prohibition and rehabilitation, education etc. She was elected to the Rajya Sabha in 1985 and was elected as the deputy chairperson of the Rajya Sabha. She was elected for the first time as an MP from Amravati in 1991. After that she also served as Governor of Rajasthan. From July 2007 to July 2012 she served as the President of the country. Fourteen eminent people were felicitated at the Lokmat Maharashtrian of The Year Awards Ceremony. 1.5 crore Lokmat readers from all parts of the world participated in the online voting for their icons in 14 categories. A panel of 11 eminent experts took note of voter trends before short listing the winners.
The jury comprised of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Dr. Prakash Amte, Arnab Goswami, Milind Deora, Mahesh Bhatt, Vikram Limaye, Vikram Saraf, Sunil Sood, Dr Ramakant Panda, Vijay Darda and Mrinal Kulkarni.
